Step 3: Communicate
Once the Lease Buyer finds a lease they're interested to take over, the Lease Buyer can contact the Lease Seller directly to ask any other questions regarding the lease. The Lease Buyer may choose to negotiate, or simply immediately begin the transfer process.
Many Lease Sellers tend to offer cash incentives to attract the Lease Buyer, and to quickly close the deal. To the satisfaction of both parties, the Lease Seller and Lease Buyer can now move forward with the transfer.
Step 4: Finalize Lease Transfer Process
Credit Check
The leasing company will want to ensure they are financially covered if the Lease Buyer is taking over a lease. Therefore a Lease Buyer will need to provide the leasing company information necessary to verify they are credit worthy to take over the lease. The Lease Seller can facilitate this simply by contacting the lease company. Some companies will function as middleman to facilitate this, and results in additional costs to the consumer which are unnecessary.
Agree to Transfer
Once the leasing or finance company has approved the Lease Buyer credit worthiness, and both parties still agree on the transfer, the lease transfer process can be finalized.
The leasing or finance company will send the vehicle transfer documents to both parties (Lease Seller & Lease Buyer) to sign and complete the lease transfer process.
This is the official and final paper work to finalize the lease transfer process.
Lease Sellers and Lease Buyers can pay other companies to act as a middleman to complete this paper work, or complete it themselves. As it’s a rather straight forward documentation to complete, save your time and money and do it yourself. The leasing company will help you if necessary.
The lease transfer document typically goes to the Lease Seller first, who will then sign the paper work and forward over to the Lease Buyer to complete.
Once the Lease Buyer finalizes the paper work, he/she will send the documents back to the lease financing company to finalize the agreement. The Lease Buyer will also require taking some of the paper work to the local Department of Motor Vehicles to pick up license plates and other registration items. This process may vary from state to state and province to province.
